Before this assignment I had never even been to Venice Beach. I have mostly heard only negative comments regarding Venice Beach. I have heard that the people are really strange and that it was common for people to have their stuff stolen. I was expecting something completely different than what I had actually experienced. Some of the people in Venice were strange but it was not to the degree that I had expected. It was really interesting to see all the lively and extremely unique people and art as well. The beach was covered with artwork in random places. I saw graffiti on trashcans, artwork being sold in booths, art on restroom buildings, etc. When I saw the legal art walls I was really surprised with how great the artwork looked. I made sure not to tag over any of the beautiful graffiti. Using spray paint was a lot harder than I thought it would be. The paint spread thickly and forming clear letters was difficult. I was able to write my name, however it wasn’t nearly as beautiful and creative as other people’s writing. I am really happy that I experienced Venice Beach and that I wrote on the art walls.
